General Biography

Tony Guerrero has established himself in a variety of areas over the last twenty years. His work as a contemporary jazz flugelhornist, trumpeter, composer and producer has garnered him both critical success and a world-wide audience. He has toured the United States and much of the world as a headliner in major jazz festivals, concert venues and clubs and has enjoyed commercial radio success not only with his own releases but with music he's written for other artists. To date, he has released 10 solo CDs as well as a variety of special releases and has appeared on countless other artist's recordings (trumpet, flugelhorn, piano, guitar, producer, composer, arranger and more).

In 2014, Tony accepted a role as Music Director for Emmy Award-winning actress, Jane Lynch's touring cabaret show, "See Jane Sing". In 2016, Tony produced and arranged Jane's critically acclaimed Christmas album, "A Swinging' Little Christmas", which featured five of Tony's original songs. One of them, "Winter's Never Cold", charted on Billboard's Adult Contemporary Top 20. Before his work with Jane, Tony spent several years touring (and continues to tour) with John Tesh, for whom Tony created two albums worth of big band arrangements.

Tony's 2010 CD, “Blue Room”, received numerous rave reviews and substantial radio airplay around the country, spending nearly six solid months on the National Jazz Charts. His newest release, "The Thing Is..." will hit the market in October of 2016.

Tony’s resume reads like a who’s who of contemporary music. He’s worked with a diverse roster of artists, including jazz legends like Freddie Hubbard and Joe Sample, rock icons such as Brian Wilson, Slash and Billy Idol and pop sensations like The Jonas Bros and High School Musical. (Visit Tony's “Resume” for a complete list.)

Aside from his work in the contemporary and classic jazz fields he has produced albums in a variety of arenas from jazz to rock to country. Most recently he has been establishing himself as a producer in the Christian Pop & Worship fields. His own worship songs, most notably "(I Will Not Be) Shaken" have been recorded and used in churches around the world. He has spoken and hosted at worship conferences in the U.S, South America and Eastern Europe. His monthly articles for Worship Leader Magazine have also been well received and has recently published a book entitled “Attracting Quality Musicians”, aimed at attracting quality musicians into the ministry. Tony served as a Music Director and as the Director of Creative Arts at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California (Rick Warren, Senior Pastor) from 1999-2010, where he worked with literally hundreds of musicians and singers on everything from weekly services to recordings to concerts. During several Christmas seasons, Saddleback successfully presented an original musical by Tony & Shawn King entitled “The Journey”, an original stage play entitled “The Christmas Station” and many other concert and theater events.

Tony is very active as a fundraiser for several charitable and non-profit organizations. Each year he helps organize and hosts the KSBR Birthday Bash, a live concert event featuring approximately 30 headlining jazz artists on stage together to raise money for a local jazz station. He has organized benefits for The SMART Foundation, whose purpose is to fill the void left by disappearing music programs. Tony and his band have also appeared at events supporting Children's Hospital, The OC & LA Philharmonics, Muscular Dystrophy Association, American Cancer Society, and many more. Furthermore, Tony also founded FACT Alliance (501c3), a charitable organization raising funds to help combat Modern-Day Slavery and Human Trafficking, as well as care for victims of the Global Sex Trade.

Tony's cartoon artwork has also appeared in music industry magazines.
